An early Chola Paadal Petra Sthalam near Thiruvaiyaru revered by Appar and Sambandar, and one of the Saptha Sthanam temples; on set days in the month of Panguni the sun's rays fall directly on the lingam.
The lord is called Vazhaimadunathar because the lingam is said to have emerged from a banana tree.
