A well-known Rama temple on the bank of the Triprayar river in Thrissur district, whose name is read as 'the sacred river before the temple'. The waterway beside it later became part of Kerala's inland canal system.
The image is said to have been worshipped by Krishna at Dwaraka, cast into the sea after his departure, and recovered centuries later by a fisherman who brought it ashore here.
