The fifth of Murugan's six principal abodes, standing on a hill approached by a flight of stone steps and among the most visited pilgrimage temples of northern Tamil Nadu.
After destroying the demon Surapadman, Murugan is said to have come to Tiruttani to let his anger subside, and it was here that he married Valli.
