A Vaigai-bank temple of the Pandya country revered in the Tevaram, its stone structure raised under Aditya I with further Chola endowments from Uttama Chola to Rajendra I recorded in inscriptions.

Sthala katha — the legend

A devoted dancer named Ponanaial is said to have been divinely helped to fashion a golden Shiva idol, on which her pinch-marks remain visible.
