A richly carved temple beside the Lonar crater, dated by Henry Cousens to the turn of the fourteenth century. Its carving was probably never finished because of the Delhi Sultanate's incursions, and a standing Surya image suggests the shrine may first have been dedicated to the sun.
The giant Lonasura is said to have terrorised the country until Vishnu killed him, the crater being the pit he lived in and its water his blood.
