Manturai, Tamil Nadu · 10.8756°, 78.7863°
A Paadal Petra Sthalam near Tiruchirappalli glorified by Appar and Sambandar and expanded by 11th-century Chola kings, whose inscriptions line its walls. It is known as a Moola Nakshatra parihara shrine where those born under the Moola star pray for marriage.
Shiva is said to have fed a mango to a deer here under the sacred mango tree — maan (deer) giving the village its name Manthurai.
