History & significance

A temple on the sand bank of the Periyar at Aluva, counted among Kerala's 108 Shiva shrines and unusual in having no sreekovil: the linga rises directly from the riverbed sand, which is why the Sivaratri gathering on the Aluva Manalpuram is held in the open.
