A Kali temple in the Ramna area of Dhaka, first raised in the Mughal period and much enlarged in the early 20th century under Rani Bilashmoni Debi, when it stood among the city's tallest landmarks. The complex was destroyed by the Pakistan Army on 27 March 1971 during the Liberation War; the rebuilt temple was inaugurated on 17 December 2021.
Nepalese folklore holds that the devotees who founded the temple had come to Bengal from the Himalayas.
