The northernmost of Sri Lanka's Pancha Ishwaram Shiva temples, standing beside the Keerimalai springs north of Jaffna and counted among the oldest shrines of the region. Destroyed by the Portuguese in 1621 and restored by Arumuka Navalar in 1894, it was bombed during the civil war and reconstructed by February 2012.
The sage Nagula Muni, whose body had shrivelled from austerities, is said to have been cured by bathing in the springs and to have founded the shrine to the lingam in gratitude.
