History & significance

One of the 51 Shakta pithas, standing at the foot of Gayatri hill (Puruhuta) beside Pushkar, roughly 11 km north-west of Ajmer. It is venerated as the place where the wrists of Sati came to rest.

Sthala katha — the legend

When Vishnu's discus scattered Sati's body across the subcontinent to end Shiva's grief, her wrists (manibandh) fell on this hill.
