History & significance

The sixth Tevaram shrine of the Kongu country, on the Kaveri at Kodumudi, sung by Sambandar, Appar and Sundarar alike and bearing epigraphs of Pandya rulers including Maravarman Sundarapandian.

Sthala katha — the legend

A crow is said to have tipped over sage Agastya's water-pot here, the spilt water flowing on as the Kaveri to nourish the farmlands downstream.
