Chintpurni, Una district, Himachal Pradesh · 31.8086°, 76.1029°
One of the five Shakta pithas of Himachal Pradesh and a major Devi pilgrimage centre in Una district, held to be the place where Sati's consciousness came to rest. The shrine also keeps Hindu genealogy registers for the families who visit it.
When Vishnu cut Sati's burning body into fifty-one pieces to quiet Shiva's grief, her consciousness is believed to have descended at Chintpurni.
