A hilltop shrine above the Chenab in Lahaul, worshipped by Tibetan Buddhists as Avalokiteshvara and by Hindus as Shiva. Prayer wheels stand beside a lingam, making it one of the clearest surviving examples of Himalayan religious syncretism.
A raja of Kullu is said to have tried to carry off the marble image but found it immovable, and a sword mark on its right leg is pointed out as proof of the failed theft.
