Patna City, Bihar · 25.5960°, 85.2300°
One of the five Takhts — thrones of Sikh temporal authority — marking the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh in 1666, where he spent his childhood before Anandpur. Relics of the tenth Guru, including his cradle and weapons, are preserved; the shrine was raised by Ranjit Singh and rebuilt after earthquake damage.
The child Gobind Rai's games by the Ganga — mock battles with playmates, the well of Bala's blessing — are part of Patna's living memory; Guru Nanak and Guru Tegh Bahadur had both sanctified the spot before his birth.
