Koteshwar, Kutch, Gujarat · 23.6876°, 68.5283°
An ancient Shiva site near the mouth of Kori Creek at the western edge of Kutch, some 178 km from Bhuj and 4 km from Narayan Sarovar. The present structure dates from 1820, and the site was noted by the seventh-century Chinese traveller Xuanzang.
Ravana is said to have been given the lingam by Shiva and to have dropped it here, whereupon it multiplied so that the original could not be told apart, giving the place its name of ten million gods.
