A Shaiva centre at Karvan in Vadodara district, regarded as the birthplace of Lakulisha, the second-century revivalist of the Pashupata school, and counted among the sixty-eight Shiva pilgrimage sites. Its lingam bears the image of a meditating yogi holding parchments and a citron, and the temples were restored in the late twentieth century by Kripalvanand.
The name is read as kaya, body, plus avarohan, descent: the place where the Lord's body descended.
