A busy Hanuman shrine in the middle of Connaught Place, rebuilt by Jai Singh II of Amber in 1724 and claimed as one of five Delhi temples traced to Mahabharata times. Its spire is unusual in being crowned by a crescent moon rather than the customary Hindu finial.
Hanuman is said to have appeared to Bhima as an old monkey during the Pandavas' exile, humbling him when he could not lift the aged creature's tail.
